2015 Port Stephens Family Fishing Competition Results

Perfect weather conditions over the weekend saw nearly 150 entries in the 2015 Inaugural Port Stephens Family Fishing Competition, sponsored by Soldiers Point Marina, Pantaenius Sail and Motor Yacht Insurance and Ibis Styles Salamander Shores.

With the senior and junior winners grabbing Shimano rods, reels and hats for catching the heaviest of each of the 10 species, $10,000 in cash prizes was also given away with the lucky person hooking the major $5000 cash prize without even catching a fish.

Lucky door prizes of three nights’ accommodation at the Flagship Golf Villa at Horizons Golf Resort sponsored by the marina and a large esky donated by Tooheys were also taken away.

Junior fisherman Harry Bailey scooped the pool by catching the heaviest fish in 5 categories... an outstanding effort.

Big thanks also to BCF at Taylors Beach, and Duffy's Bait and Tackle for donating lots of prizes for the junior fishers.

Same time next year......

Young angler Harry Bailey won 5 junior species categories - an amazing effort. Pictured with from left: Soldiers Point Marina General Manager Darrell Barnett and local fishing guru John "Stinker" Clarke

Cruised up from Sydney and spent 2 nights on the marina. What a treat, we did 2 nights down the way at the Anchorage and it does not compare.

Darrell and the team are on the money and the facilities are super, beautiful views, good greek restaurant and the weather was beaut.

Well done guys, we will be back to spend a few nights on our Myall Lakes adventure next year.
