Soldiers Point Marina celebrates re-accreditation of Level 4 ISO 14001 status

Soldiers Point Marina, in Port Stephens NSW, continues to remain the only marina on Australia’s eastern seaboard to achieve the prestigious international Level 4 ISO 14001 Clean Marinas Program status, following recent successful completion of the rigorous annual reaccreditation process.

The independently audited reaccreditation ensures that the 2013-2014 Australian Marina of the Year continues to maintain the world standard for marina environmental management processes and practices.

The initiative forms part of the MIAs Clean Marinas Program of which Soldiers Point Marina achieved in 2012 the highest level possible – Level 4 (ISO 14001) – world standard for environmental management systems.

“As one of very few marinas in Australia to achieve this highest level of accreditation, our reaccreditation demonstrates how seriously we take our environmental responsibilities at Soldiers Point Marina” said Marina General Manager Darrell Barnett CMM.

On behalf of the Soldiers Point Rural Fire Brigade, I would like to thank you for your kind donation of a berth for our Fire Boat.

As a relatively new addition to our brigade, the boat represents a significant investment by Lower Hunter RFS and as such we take our marine responsibilities seriously. Of course, a boat is only as good as its access to the Port Stephens waterways and by allowing us to berth the fire boat at your marina, we are in a fine position to be deployed at short notice.

Once again, I thank you for your generous contribution to the Rural Fire Service and in particular, to our brigade.

Neville Klein, Captain Soldiers Point Rural Fire Brigade
